The Greater the Distance the Clearer the View THRESHOLD (II) The sculpture’s principle reference is the notion of ‘liminal space’ (from limen, meaning "threshold"). Threshold indicates an uncertain place; a point of transition and a place for contemplation. My intention was to create a simple visual form that offers this point of transition, and reveal the connection between the present, past and future. The material used confuses the foreground and background and places the viewer between the two. Acrylic screen, reflective film, brass. |

Ringsfield Hall Residency
April 2017
Ringsfield and my stay in the Hermitage was the perfect place to stop a while and contemplate, reflect upon and appreciate the things already in our lives that we are blessed with daily and are easily overlooked.
Bark Sculpture Using material of nature immediately to hand I have formed an expression of the pattern and rhythm of growth through nature itself. Working on a felled tree, with no tools and its own material. A gesture constructed during a short time, it will naturally disintegrate and once more return to the soil.
Wood Sculpture An ephemeral work, made by using sticks from the immediate area, surrounds and embraces the tree. What has been drawn from nature will change and
eventually merge with it again.
